Clamp ammeter principle, method and skill

Generally, when the ordinary ammeter detects the line, it is necessary to disconnect the line to intervene in the instrument test, which is not feasible for the equipment that is running and cannot be disconnected. Therefore, the research and development of the clamp ammeter is short of the necessary targeted ammeter. It can directly clamp the path to test line current, leakage current, etc.

Principle and structure of clamp ammeter:
The clamp ammeter uses a combination of a split iron core and a Hall element. When the measured current I passes through the sensor, the Hall element senses and outputs a Hall voltage VH, which can be calculated by detecting the Hall voltage VH. The current I and the Hall voltage VH are proportional to the tested current I, and the wire passing through the iron core becomes the primary coil of the current transformer, and the current in the line induces a current in the secondary coil. You can test the line current. The clamp meter is fully automatic shifting, and has high precision, easy to carry, and can test the total line current, ground leakage current, line current, etc.

How to use the clamp ammeter:
(1) Before testing the circuit, check whether the insulating shell of the iron core of the clamp meter is intact. Whether the jaws are closed firmly.

(2) Turn on the meter and display "OL", indicating that the meter itself is normal and can be tested

(3) When measuring, try to pass the tested wire through the center of the jaws, test it several times and read the value to make the reading accurate.

(4) When measuring a small current, if conditions permit, you can wind the wire a few more times, and then clamp it with the jaws. The value tested in this way is a multiple of the number of wire coils, and the value is more accurate

(5) After the test is completed, turn off the meter and clean the jaws so that the meter will be in good condition when used next time.
