This is a very impressive anemometer, especially for this price. Make no mistake, this is not a toy or a stripped down version. Not too many years ago, an instrument of this quality and with these features was several hundred dollars, so now this technology is available for many different trades and even homeowner use.
It is important to read the owners instruction manual, and it isn’t that intimidating, since most of it is for other languages, but you will find how different valuable features operate.

A couple tips for measuring duct or register air flow: Use cardboard to make simple box extension above a finned-type register and measure air flow at multiple points across the face of the opening in a grid pattern, and then average your results. Convert velocity to air flow by measuring the area of your opening and calculate for a CFM result. Now you are on the way to balancing your supply air and you can repeat for other rooms, reducing or increasing flow as necessary for completely accurate results.
Other applications are checking exhaust rates of bath fans, exhaust hoods, clothes dryers, and making sure that make-up air is provided at correct amounts. You can even check the wind speed in your back yard if you want.
Some of the “extras” include a temperature indicator and a humidity indicator. Both of these are nice to have if you want to see if you have heat loss (or gain) a in a duct supplying a particular room, for example.A great instrument at a very affordable price.
