I ordered this GVDA GD155 Digital anemometer as a backup to the anemometer we use for Kiting and Wind Surfing. Wind speed and gusts at the beach are often quite different from just a mile inland, so we use this to judge wind intensity...and the temp and humidity readings are interesting to see although less relevant. This anemometer seems to top out at 60 mph. I would guess that's because wind speeds greater than that would probably make the little wheel take off like an errant helicopter (LOL)
The accuracy of this unit is identical in most cases to our other anemometer which cost about 5 times as much as this. The manual is very good and the unit comes with a nice microfiber bag to keep it in when not in use. The bag is important because it's not hard to foul the blades of units like this if they're not protected from sand and dust when not in use. I love that fact this this runs on 3AA batteries. We always carry extra batteries for a variety of reasons and AA's are common and inexpensive. We've used this for hours already and the batteries are still fine.
The unit seems very 'sturdy' and well built. If you need an anemometer, this is a great economical option if you don't need to measure wind speeds in excess of 60 mph.
