Well designed, Lightweight and Easy to hold. Simple to operate. The Display is easy to read. Construction quality seems to be very good and the Sensor (fan) spins smoothly and silently. The one I got was green on the sides rather than orange, but otherwise identical to the photo in the Amazon listing.
After installing the included (name brand) batteries, I set the units to Miles/hour and degrees F, and I took it into the backyard to try it out. The breeze was light and intermittent. Even though I could tell the general direction the wind was blowing from, I noticed differences in the measured speed depending on which way I “aimed” the device. Rather than watching a continuously-changing reading, I switched to the “MAX” value mode to capture the highest speed-value, and then I slowly changed the direction I was facing until I obtained the highest reading for that spot in the yard.
I compared these measurement values to the current weather app on my cell phone. I’m not exactly sure where the values reported to my cell phone are actually measured, but it isn’t right where I was standing - so I expected some differences. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was pretty good agreement between the two on Wind Speed, Temperature, and %RH . It’s a nice little device that pleases my “inner weatherman”.
