New soldering iron tip life extension maintenance method

The soldering iron should not be exposed to high temperature for a long time (referring to greater than 300°), otherwise it will accelerate its oxidation, which will not only affect the service life, but also make it difficult to tin or non-stick tin in later use!

It is contraindicated to polish the soldering iron tip with a file or sandpaper, because it will damage the electroplated metal and greatly reduce the service life. The correct way is to use a quick-wet soldering iron sponge (no dripping water) to repeatedly add tin and wipe it on the sponge Until the tip of the soldering iron returns to a metallic luster. First remove the oxides with solder flux. If it cannot be removed, cycle tinning, wiping, tinning, wiping until there is no oxide layer, and then apply new solder. After all the work is done, new solder should be applied to the tip of the soldering iron.

If the soldering temperature is higher than 350°C and the work is suspended for more than 1 hour, the tip of the soldering iron should be tinned frequently;

Before turning off the soldering station, do not remove the excess solder on the tip of the soldering iron. These excess tin will protect the surface of the upper tin and prevent oxidation when the tip of the soldering iron reheats;
