First impression. This is a well-made piece of equipment.
It has a large LCD screen, which can be backlit. It measures maximum, minimum, and average speed. It measures temperature, in Fahrenheit and Celsius. It measures relative humidity. It measures wind speed, of course, in six different units. Miles/hr, feet/sec, ft/min, knots, meters/sec, km/hr. Pretty much any units you might need. (It does not measure in furlongs/fortnight, however. You’ll have to do your own conversion on that one). It has dimpled grips on either side to assist you in keeping it in your hand.
It comes with an instruction book printed in six languages (The English version is actually readable, which is more than I can say for a lot of other things I’ve bought over the years). And you get a microfiber bag to store it in. Remove the screw at the bottom of the back of the instrument to access the battery compartment.
I used to do vehicle testing for a major automobile manufacturer. We needed an anemometer to gather data for the tests. Is this as accurate as that setup? Probably not. But it’s a whole lot less expensive, and you don’t need a minivan to carry it around.
