5 functions of clamp meter

Measure the current of a three-phase circuit with three wires and the current of a three-phase circuit with four wires for purpose 1.

Typically, clamp meters use a single wire to measure current. When measuring the current of a three-phase, three-wire load when two wires are clamped in simultaneously, the displayed current value should be the current of the third wire.

The process for measuring the three-phase four-wire neutral line's current is identical to that used to measure the current in the three-phase three-wire circuit. Three phase lines are clamped at the same time, and the neutral line's current value is shown at this moment.

Application 2: Small current clamp meters

Small currents are measured with clamp meters. The readings are not very accurate, even when the gear is set to the smallest gear. As a result, the current value can be read by wrapping a wire around the clamp's arm. The actual small current value is then obtained by dividing the current reading by the number of spins.

Calculation method: Divide the no-load current by 0.8 to obtain an estimate of power that is close to the rating.

Following are the steps: Measure the motor's no-load current value I using the empirical formula as follows: p=I/0.8

In order to determine the apparent power S, measure the no-load current of a 380V electric welding equipment without a nameplate.

Estimated formula: The no-load current I multiplied by 5 equals the 380 welding machine's capacity.

Following are the steps: Using the empirical formula, determine the electric welding machine's no-load current value I: p=5I

Determine the name of the current in the line for the third purpose.

It is crucial to determine the current because it will be used to judge whether the equipment is operating normally based on the current that was measured on-site.

In order to determine the rated power of a motor without a nameplate, measure the no-load current of the motor.
