5 precautions for using a test pen

(1) Before using the test pen, make sure it has a safety resistor inside and then physically inspect it for any damage or evidence of water or moisture seeping in. It can't be utilized till the inspection is passed.

(Principle: The test pen contains a neon tube, which is a luminous body, and a resistance. The neon tube holds the key. A voltage is provided to one end of the neon tube to create a high potential once the resistance has been decreased. The ground wire is the metal end of the pen tail that your hand needs to make touch with. The neon tube contains two thin, unconnected gold wires that are near to one another. Neon gas is naturally present in the neon tube, and glow discharge can be produced by an appropriate potential difference. In the event that the voltage is too high, the neon tube will immediately burst through and serve as a safety measure to keep you safe. Because conventional pens, especially neon tube pens, are more harmful, low voltage may be more dangerous. It won't turn on unless the voltage is higher than 100V. Don't take things lightly. Additionally, avoid getting the electric pen wet since this will cause you to experience electric shock.

(2) To avoid the risk of receiving a personal electric shock accident, avoid touching the metal probe at the front end of the test pen with your hands when using one.

(3) Make sure your hand touches the metal portion of the test pen's end while using one. If there isn't a circuit between the charged body, the test pen, the human body, and the earth, the neon bubbles inside the pen won't release light, which could lead to harmful misinterpretation and the belief that the charged body isn't charged.
The neon tube has a luminous voltage greater than 70V and a resistance of 500K linked to it. The greatest current that can run through the human body when measuring the 220V voltage is I=(220-70) ÷ 500=0.3mA, and the sensation of numbness can only be felt when the current reaches 1mA.)

(4) Before measuring whether electrical equipment is live, it is necessary to find a known power source to test whether the neon bulb of the pen can emit light normally, and can emit light normally before use.

(5) When testing charged objects under bright light, special attention should be paid to whether the neon bubble truly emits light (or does not emit light), and if necessary, the other hand can be used to block the light and carefully distinguish. Never make a misjudgment by judging neon bubbles as not emitting light and judging them as having electricity as not.
