8 things to note when using a microscope

1. When preparing a glass slide specimen, it should be aligned with the center of the light hole and not placed upside down to prevent crushing the slide or damaging the objective lens.

2. Do not remove the eyepiece at will to prevent dust from falling into the objective lens, and do not disassemble various parts at will to prevent damage.

3. When holding the mirror, it must be in the posture of holding the arm with the right hand and holding the seat with the left hand. It cannot be extracted with one hand to avoid parts falling off or colliding with other places.

4. Handle with care and do not place the microscope on the edge of the experimental platform. It should be placed 10cm away from the edge to avoid tipping over and falling to the ground.

5. After use, it must be restored before being put back into the mirror box. The steps are: remove the specimen, rotate the rotator to make the lens leave the light hole, lower the mirror stage, lay the reflector flat, lower the collector (but do not touch the reflector), close the aperture, push the slide back to its original position, cover with silk cloth and outer cover.

6. Keep the microscope clean. The optical and lighting parts can only be wiped with lens cleaning paper. Avoid blowing or wiping with a cloth, and the mechanical parts should be wiped with a cloth.

7. Do not let water droplets, alcohol, or other drugs come into contact with the lens and stage. If contaminated, immediately wipe them off with lens cleaning paper.

8. Develop the habit of simultaneously opening both eyes to observe, using the left eye to observe the field of view and the right eye to draw.

The difference between stereo microscope and inverted microscope
Stereoscopic microscope, also known as dissecting microscope, solid microscope, and stereomicroscope, is a versatile microscope. It is easy to operate, does not require high standards for specimens, has a long working distance, and has a strong sense of three dimensionality during observation. It can observe physical objects and perform some operations on specimens while observing. Unlike biological microscopes that require slicing of specimens, slicing requires corresponding techniques and equipment. Therefore, stereomicroscopes have a wide range of applications in microelectronics, precision instrument assembly and maintenance, micro carving, and other fields. The magnification is small, the observation range should be larger, and some small animal dissections should be done.

Inverted microscope: Similar to biological microscopes, inverted microscopes are used to observe plant cells, etc. The objective of inverted microscopes is different from that of conventional upright biological microscopes. Inverted microscopes can also be used to observe live microorganisms in culture bottles.
