A Method for Self Calibration of Infrared ThermometersA Method for Self Calibration of Infrared Thermometers
Referring to the principle of blackbody furnace and practical work experience, the comparison standard used in self calibration is a self-made simple blackbody water tank with a size of 450mmx300mm, made of iron sheet and equipped with an electric heater inside. Use a Class 1.5 pressure thermometer with good stability (which can be replaced by a calibrated liquid glass thermometer) as a standard to test the temperature inside the water tank. Considering that when measuring the surface temperature of most organic materials, paints, or oxidized surfaces, black tape or flat black paint should be applied to the tested surface to compensate. When the black tape or black paint reaches the same temperature as the substrate material, measure the temperature on the surface of the tape or paint, Work experience with real temperatures. At the same time, considering the spot positioning test, a 80mmx80mm black tape is pasted on the liquid surface at the same depth as the pressure thermometer probe. After the water in the water tank boils for 5 minutes and the temperature field in the water tank is uniform, an infrared tester is used to aim at the center point of the black tape for comparison.
Precautions for self calibration of infrared thermometer
Technical requirements:
The basic error and measurement distance variation of infrared thermometer shall not exceed the provisions in Table 1.
Calibration items:
Based on on-site usage and practical experience, the calibration project mainly completes appearance inspection, measurement of basic errors, measurement of the impact of distance changes, and determination of the range of emissivity.
Calibration steps:
1) Visual inspection, all parts assembled intact and without defects;
2) Characters, signs, and scales should be complete and clear;
3) The appearance and components should be well treated, and there should be no rust or mold spots;
4) If there is a "BAT" prompt, replace the battery in a timely manner;
5) The objective lens and eyepiece should be undamaged, and the aiming should be clear. If the environment is dusty, the surface of the lens should be cleaned, and the surface dust should be blown off with clean air or brushed off with a soft bristle brush.
