Why Industrial Online pH Meters Require Regular Calibration
The accuracy and lifespan of industrial online pH meters depend on the electrode of the industrial online pH meter, and the price difference is also significant. However, many times the measurement is inaccurate due to improper usage methods.
Industrial online pH meters need to be recalibrated after a period of use, depending on the measured solution and frequency of use. After a period of use, the electrode of the industrial online pH meter becomes asymmetric, and the potential will undergo significant changes, so regular calibration is necessary.
The number of calibration times for industrial online pH meters depends on the sample, the performance of the pH electrode of the industrial online pH meter, and the requirements for measurement accuracy. High precision measurement (≤± 0103pH) should be calibrated in a timely manner; General precision measurement (≤± 011pH) can be used continuously for two weeks or even longer after one calibration. As long as the measured pH value is accurate, there is no need to calibrate the pH electrode frequently.
Test the standard solution that is closer to the tested solution first, and determine whether recalibration is necessary based on the magnitude of the error. Re calibration is necessary in the following situations:
① Replace the electrode of the industrial online pH meter with a new one.
② After measuring concentrated acid solution (pH<2) or concentrated alkali solution (pH>12) with an industrial online pH meter.
③ Industrial online pH meters measure solutions containing fluoride or concentrated organic solutions.
④ When the temperature of the tested solution differs significantly from the temperature of the standard solution (or room temperature).
