About Noise and Sound Level Meters

The generation of sound comes from the vibration of objects. If everything were stationary, there would be no sound! For example, human voice is due to the vibration of vocal cords.

The three elements of sound are pitch, intensity, and timbre. The level of sound is determined by the frequency of vibration, and the higher the frequency, the sharper the sound.

The strength of sound is determined by the amplitude of the vibration of the sound wave. The larger the amplitude, the higher the energy of the sound wave, and therefore the louder the sound. We usually use decibels (dB) to represent the loudness of sound. The difference in timbre is determined by the waveform.

The source of sound

1. Noise: The main sources of noise are factories, entertainment venues, construction projects, and traffic noise.

2. The sound of music, television, electrical equipment, pleasant instrument sounds and songs... or the sound broadcasted on television.

3. The sounds produced by nature: the sound of flowing water, the sound of birds chirping.

4. The sound of human speech and the call of animals. Like the teacher's voice and the band's singing voice.

5. The sound produced by mechanical and office equipment, such as the sound emitted by factory machinery during operation, or the sound of fax machines, printers, and computers typing in the office... The impact of sound on the human body

Noise damage: The most common cause of inner ear damage is noise. Various noises in civilized society can accelerate the degradation and aging of the inner ear. To be more specific, exceeding eight hours in 90 decibel noise, four hours in 95 decibel noise, and two hours in 100 decibel noise can cause damage to the inner ear. The impact of noisy sounds on the human body:

1. Noise can cause a decrease in auditory ability, and even lead to * * deafness.

2. Noise can cause psychological effects such as abnormal emotions, irritability, and restlessness.

3. Noise causes psychological effects such as increased heart rate, elevated blood pressure, and changes in sleep cycle.

A pleasant and appropriate volume of sound can relieve physical and mental tension, relax people, and restore their spirits. It can also change the atmosphere, concentrate attention, relieve stress, help fall asleep, alleviate sadness, stabilize emotions, enrich emotions, and eliminate physical and mental exhaustion.
