An Indispensable Choice for Gas Detectors
Have you ever paid attention to the selection of gas detectors? How to select them according to the environment? How to select them according to the space? How to select them according to the gas? No matter what our reasons for selection are, we must pay attention to the following points:
1. Calibration Requirements
Calibration methods, the length of the calibration period, and the ease of calibration. There are two calibration methods - laboratory calibration and on-site calibration. For on-site calibration, you need to exhale on the oxygen sensor, and the oxygen reading of the instrument must decrease and an alarm should be triggered.
2. Reliability
The longer the lifespan of the gas detector sensor, the better. Generally speaking, the lifespan of the sensor should be at least 2 years, and the lifespan of the combustible gas sensor is 2 to 5 years. The longer the average time between failures, the better. What are the accuracy and precision? The smaller the error value, the better. The product warranty period is generally 2 years.
3. Applicability
Professional personnel of the enterprise and experienced operation supervisors or employees on-site should identify and evaluate the hazardous gases at the site of limited space operations to determine whether the sensor of the selected detector meets the usage requirements.
4. Stability
What are the values of the zero drift and full-scale drift of the detector? The smaller, the better.
5. Convenience
It should be light in weight, small in size, easy and comfortable to wear, and easy to maintain.
6. Readability
It can be a numerical-type or pointer-type gas detector. Generally speaking, the numerical type has the advantages of being easy to read and having fewer misjudgments. Is the display area large enough, and does it have background lighting and larger fonts for easy reading and understanding? Is the alarm sound loud enough to be distinguishable from the background noise? Generally, a sound level of above 90dB(A) is more applicable. Can the alarm flashing light be identified from various angles? Can it continuously display the signal according to the change of the measured gas concentration, and stop the alarm only after confirmation or taking countermeasures.
