An Introduction to How to Use a Combustible Gas Detector Correctly

Everyone should have a question: I've bought your combustible gas detector, but how can I determine if it works well? In fact, the method is very simple. Generally, workshops will keep experimental gases. We just need to put some of the gas or liquid into a mineral water bottle, screw on the cap, use a sharp object to make a small hole in the cap, and then aim this small hole at the probe part of the combustible gas detector. Then we can see if the reading on the panel of the gas detector changes.

It should be noted that some combustible gases are in a liquid state and volatilize relatively slowly. Therefore, during the experiment, it is necessary to shake the mineral water bottle to accelerate its volatilization. There is another point: fixed gas detectors generally rely on natural diffusion. Only when the leaked gas diffuses in front of the alarm device will the device react.

If you think this method is rather troublesome, under the condition that it is allowed for our company's product ZR-UHZ magnetic flap level gauge, you can use a lighter to test whether the gas detector can display a reading. The method is as follows: Light the lighter, blow out the flame, but don't release your hand so that the lighter is still in the gas-emitting state. Aim it at the probe of the gas detector, but don't do it for too long. Because the concentration of the combustible gas in the lighter is very high. If the time is too long, it is likely to cause the gas concentration to be extremely high, exceeding the measurement range of the gas detector. Doing this frequently will likely shorten the lifespan of the gas detector.

If you want to know whether the gas detector reads accurately, it will be a bit difficult. At this time, we must know the exact concentration of the gas we are using and check whether the reading of the detector is consistent with the known concentration value (According to national regulations, a certain amount of error is allowed). If they are consistent or the difference is very small, it indicates that the gas detector can read correctly.

If you find that the gas detector on the site cannot display a reading, don't worry. For our company's product ZR-UHZ magnetic flap level gauge, first check whether the gas detector is properly powered. Unstable voltage, with large fluctuations between high and low values, may also lead to inaccurate readings. Generally, the power supply range for the detector of a gas detector is between 10-30V. Exceeding this range may cause inaccurate readings.
