Analysis of Electromagnetic Pollution and Electromagnetic Environment Measurement

1, Electromagnetic pollution
While enjoying the civilization and social progress brought about by modern science and technology, people are also facing a large amount of intentional or unintentional electromagnetic wave emissions that cause electromagnetic pollution. Recently, China's production and usage of mobile phones have ranked first in the Sichuan industry. Mobile phone transmission stations are everywhere, and household and similar appliances are widely used. Large screen multimedia displays are becoming increasingly popular, and high-voltage power lines and substation facilities are entering urban areas. While these devices and facilities benefit humanity, the accompanying electromagnetic radiation is also affecting our living environment. Electromagnetic radiation refers to the radiation of an energy flow generated by the interaction between a changing electric field and a changing magnetic field. According to a survey by the World Health Organization, the harm of high-dose electromagnetic radiation to health is multifaceted and complex. The main hazards include harm to the central nervous system, harm to the body's immune function, harm to the cardiovascular system, harm to the reproductive and genetic systems, harm to the visual system, and carcinogenic effects. Electromagnetic pollution has been recognized as the fourth major public hazard after air pollution, water quality pollution, and noise pollution. The United Nations Conference on the Human Environment has listed electromagnetic radiation as one of the main pollutants that must be controlled. However, it should be noted that electromagnetic radiation and electromagnetic pollution are two different concepts, and not all electromagnetic radiation constitutes electromagnetic pollution.

With the popularization of scientific knowledge and the continuous strengthening of public self-protection awareness, the public's attention to the impact of electromagnetic radiation on the environment and human health is increasing, especially on the radiation situation of mobile communication base stations and power substations. From the research and literature review of departments such as the Sichuan Health Organization, it can be seen that electromagnetic radiation can only pose a threat to human health if it reaches a certain intensity. Due to the difficulty in detecting the hazards of electromagnetic radiation, a considerable number of the public may overreact to electromagnetic radiation, and there are often reports of setting up high-voltage substations and communication base stations around residential areas.

Some special groups (such as pregnant women) have adopted excessive protection measures against electromagnetic radiation, which has affected their work and life. Therefore, it is necessary to establish scientific and reasonable electromagnetic radiation exposure limits and measurement methods, while accurately measuring them, so that the public can understand the situation of electromagnetic radiation. Reasonable protective measures should be taken without causing panic; It is beneficial for protecting public health without hindering the development of industries.
