Application of Gas Detector in Petroleum and Petrochemical Industry
Petroleum and petrochemical industry is the pillar industry of my country and the focus of my country's energy development strategy. Therefore, the safety of the petroleum and petrochemical industry is particularly important. Since the production process of petroleum and petrochemical industry is a high-risk industry that is flammable, explosive, high-temperature, high-pressure, toxic and harmful, more than 80% of the production areas have the possibility of flammable and explosive hazards.
In the production process of the petroleum and petrochemical industry, such as coking industry, coal gasification - synthetic ammonia, coal-based methanol, coal-to-synthetic oil, coal chemical co-production, etc. will produce sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, chlorine, ammonia, combustible gas, benzene , toluene, aniline, carbon disulfide and other toxic and harmful gases. Therefore, for the safety of the industry, gas detection alarms should be installed.
According to the "Code for the Design of Combustible Gas and Toxic Gas Detection and Alarm in Petrochemical Enterprises", the effective coverage of the gas detector on the horizontal plane radius is 7.5 meters indoors and 15 meters outdoors. Within the effective coverage area, at least one gas detection device should be installed. In addition, gas detectors should be installed near the inlet and outlet valve groups of the storage tank and the pump room, compressor room, and tank-bottle room valve group where there may be gas leakage.
How to install the gas detector in the petroleum and petrochemical industry?
1. Principles of production area protection settings
1. When a certain flammable gas contains toxic gas components, once the gas leaks, its flammable components will quickly reach 25% LEL, but the toxic gas components have not reached its maximum allowable concentration, and only the flammable gas detection alarm is installed in this place. Can.
2. When a certain toxic gas contains combustible gas components, once the gas leaks, the toxic gas components first reach the maximum allowable concentration, but the combustible gas components do not reach 25% LEL, only toxic gas detection alarms can be installed in this place .
3. Where combustible gas and toxic gas exist at the same time, combustible gas detection alarms and toxic gas detection alarms must be installed at the same time.
2. Selection of detection range of gas detector
1. The setting range of flammable and toxic gas detection alarms should generally be on the windward side of the low-frequency wind direction of the gas release source.
2. The effective protection radius of the combustible gas probe: 7.5 meters indoors and 15 meters outdoors. Within this effective protection radius, at least one combustible gas alarm shall be installed.
3. The distance between the position of the toxic gas alarm and the source of poisonous gas release is generally less than 1 meter indoors and less than 2 meters outdoors. Due to the limited installation environment on site, when the alarm is installed in the downwind direction of the gas release source, its protection distance should be appropriately shortened. The protective radius of flammable gas should not be greater than 5 meters, and the protective radius of poisonous gas should not be greater than 1 meter.
4. When the source of flammable gas or toxic gas is located in a closed or semi-closed factory building, the protection distance should also be appropriately shortened. The flammable gas protection radius should not be greater than 7.5 meters, and the poisonous gas protection radius should not be greater than 1 meter.
