Brief description and principle of magnetic thickness gauge

Magnetic thickness gauge, integrated instrument structure, can be operated with one hand. It adopts the principle of electromagnetic induction and is suitable for measuring the thickness of non-magnetic covering layers on various magnetic metal substrates.

It can measure the thickness of various electroplating (except nickel plating), coating, enamel, plastic and other covering layers on steel, and can also be used to measure various metal foils (such as copper foil, aluminum foil, gold foil, etc.) and non-metallic films (such as paper , plastic, etc.) thickness. This instrument can be used for production inspection, acceptance inspection and quality supervision inspection. In line with national standards.

There are two types of magnetic thickness gauges, one is called magnetic thickness gauge and the other is called magnetic thickness gauge.

The magnetic thickness gauge measures the thickness of the coating by measuring the magnetic attraction force between the probe of the magnet and the magnetic conductive substrate proportional to the distance between them.

The principle of magnetic induction is to use the magnetic flux of the probe to flow into the iron matrix through the non-ferromagnetic cladding to measure the thickness of the cladding.

         * The suction force between the magnet (probe) and the magnetic conductive steel is proportional to the distance between the two, that is, the thickness of the coating.

The thickness gauge made by using the principle of the magnetic thickness gauge is the magnetic thickness gauge. Measurements can be made as long as the difference in permeability between the coating and the substrate is large enough. Given that most industrial products are stamped and formed from structural steel and hot and cold rolled sheet, magnetic thickness gauges are the most widely used.

The basic structure of the magnetic thickness gauge is composed of magnetic steel, relay spring, ruler and self-stop mechanism.

After the magnet and the object to be measured are attracted, the measuring spring is gradually elongated, and the pulling force is gradually increased. When the pulling force is just greater than the suction force, the thickness of the coating can be obtained by recording the pulling force at the moment of separation of the magnetic steel.

Newer products can automate this logging process. Different models have different ranges and applicable occasions.

The instrument features simple operation, robustness, no power supply, no calibration prior to measurement, and low price, making it ideal for on-site quality control in workshops.
