The water-ink balance, ink drying performance and ink layer quality in the printing process are very important. Therefore, it is necessary to use an industrial pH meter to monitor the acidity and alkalinity of the paper to avoid the low pH value of the paper, which inhibits the oxidative polymerization reaction and drying speed of the ink. . The printing industry uses pH meters to control the acidity and alkalinity of paper as much as possible to improve printing quality.


What will be the effects if the paper is too alkaline? If the paper is too alkaline, it may cause the acidity of the fountain solution to change, thus weakening the acidity of the hydrophilic glue layer in the non-image and text parts of the printing plate. Decreased hydrophilicity of non-graphic parts will cause ink imbalance, reduced ink tinting strength, dim color of printed graphics, patterns, and pastes, etc. It can be seen that controlling the pH of paper is of great significance in the printing industry, and the pH meter has become the best helper.


In addition to using a PH meter to monitor the pH of the paper, a PH meter and a conductivity meter are also used to detect and control the relevant parameters of the fountain solution. If the dampening solution is too acidic, it will cause the blank part of the printing plate to be corroded and damaged, making the printing plate dirty, while if it is too alkaline, it will corrode the ink and paper. Therefore, the acidity and alkalinity of the fountain solution must be carefully controlled, especially the pH value of the buffer in the fountain solution. In addition, the hardness and temperature of the water must be controlled to prevent water from affecting the PH value of the fountain solution.
