Classification of Brix Meters

Non-destructive sugar meter: No need to cut the fruit, directly touch the probe to the surface of the fruit to be tested to measure the sweetness of the fruit.

Portable sugar content measurement: Before picking fruit, measure the sweetness of the fruit to ensure the uniformity of sweetness and improve the production management goals of crops.

Computer Brix Tester: Each fruit is tested for sweetness, according to quality inspection, grading, processing and packaging operations, which can increase the high selling price.

The use and precautions of sugar meter

The commonly used instrument in the fruit sugar meter is a hand-held refractometer, also known as a sugar mirror and a hand-held sugar meter. By measuring the soluble solid content (sugar content) of fruits and vegetables, the quality of fruits and vegetables can be understood, and the maturity of fruits can be roughly estimated.

1. Purpose and principle: Determination of total soluble solids content in fruits and vegetables by hand-held refractometer can roughly represent the sugar content of fruits and vegetables. Refraction occurs when light enters another medium from one medium, and the ratio of the sine of the incident angle is constant. This ratio is called the refractive index. The content of soluble solids in fruit and vegetable juice is proportional to the refractive index under certain conditions (the same temperature and pressure).

2. Medicines and equipment needed for the experiment:

1. Fruit samples

2. Distilled water

3. Beaker, dropper, roll paper, hand-held fruit sugar meter

3. Operation steps:

1. Open the cover of the hand-held fruit sugar meter, and carefully dry the prism glass surface with a clean gauze or roll paper. Drop 2 drops of distilled water on the prism glass surface and cover with a cover plate.

2. In the horizontal state, observe from the eye contact to check whether the boundary line between light and dark in the field of vision is on the zero line of the scale. If it does not coincide with the zero line, turn the scale adjustment screw to make the boundary surface just fall on the zero line.

3. Open the cover, dry the water with gauze or roll paper, then drop 2 drops of fruit and vegetable juice on the prism glass surface as above, observe, and read the scale on the boundary between light and dark in the field of view, which is the solubility in fruit and vegetable juice. Solid content (%) (approximate sugar content). repeat three times.

The following matters should be paid attention to in the use and maintenance of the sugar meter:

1. In the process of using the glucometer, you must be careful and use it strictly according to the instructions. Do not loosen the connecting parts of the instrument arbitrarily, do not drop, collide, or violently shake.

2. After use, it is strictly forbidden to wash the glucometer directly in water, and wipe it with a clean soft cloth. For the optical surface, it should not be bumped or scratched.

3. The glucometer should be stored in a dry, non-corrosive place.

4. Avoid the loss of spare parts of the Brix meter.

Brix meter calibration and temperature correction

The Brix meter needs to calibrate the zero point before measuring. Take a few drops of distilled water, put it on the detection prism, and turn the zero adjustment screw to adjust the dividing line to the 0% position of the scale. Then clean the inspection prism and perform inspection. Some models of instruments need to be equipped with standard solution instead of distilled water when calibrating.

Another method is (only suitable for the determination of sugar content): use the temperature correction table to add (or subtract) the temperature correction value to the value read at the ambient temperature to obtain an accurate value.

Questions to consider when buying a sugar meter

1. When a user buys a product, he must first recognize his own needs before making an appropriate decision. Similar products have high or low prices. From the buyer's point of view, they should choose one according to their own needs and purchasing ability. Products, hand-held saccharide meters also have a variety of models to meet the needs of different customers, such as handheld refractometers, or handheld refractometers and other products, the pursuit is simple, practical and low-cost, allowing more people to measure solution sugar. Content (or called measurement of solid content) needs to obtain this product, but also can quickly get started.

2. Choose a merchant with warranty when purchasing. Usually, if water enters the merchant, the merchant will not guarantee it. Because the maintenance cost is high, most merchants recommend that customers buy a new one. If the merchant provides a hand-held saccharide meter for water Warranty is also very rare, so a certain fee may also be charged, which can also obtain better protection. Usually, the service life of the first-hand glucometer is more than 2 years, but the premise is that it must be well maintained.
