Calibration of infrared radiation thermometers

Infrared thermometers must be calibrated to correctly display the temperature of the target being measured. The general calibration period for infrared temperature measurement is one year. It is recommended to use a black body furnace with a cavity shape and an emissivity of 0.995 to accurately calibrate the infrared thermometer. If the used thermometer is out of tolerance in use, it needs to be returned to the manufacturer or repair center for re-calibration. [2]
