Calibration Specification for Gas Detectors

Gas detectors are usually used in a multifunctional combination and can be considered as devices with high sensor precision in gas instruments. Traditional instrument calibration also requires multiple sets of experimental testing, and the calibration cycle is relatively short compared to general instrument equipment. So, what are the calibration standards for gas detector instrument calibration?

 Instrument calibration project
The four in one gas detector needs to verify the following items in subsequent use:
1. Combustible gas Ex: inspection of alarm function and alarm action value, indication error, response time, and repeatability.

2. H2S: Alarm function, display error, repeatability, response time.

3. Oxygen: indication error, repeatability, response time.

4. 4. CO: Alarm concentration value, alarm function, indication error, repeatability, response time.
In addition to the main calibration items of the four in one gas detector mentioned above during use, the most basic appearance and structure, signs and markings should also be checked to ensure that all items are intact and clear for easy identification. After calibrating the gas detector, at least prepare gas standard materials, flow controllers, zero point gases, stopwatches, pressure reducing valves, and gas circuits.

Instrument calibration cycle
Due to the frequent use of the four in one gas detector, factors such as the surrounding environment, gas density, and internal uncertainties can cause significant losses and greatly reduce its accuracy. Therefore, in order to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the detection values, it is necessary to regularly calibrate the four in one gas detector.

1. The accuracy of a four in one gas detector mainly depends on the sensor. Electrochemical sensors and catalytic combustion sensors may be affected by certain substances in the environment during use, which can change or even reduce their sensitivity. Therefore, regular calibration of gas detectors is completely necessary.

2. The recommended calibration cycle for a four in one gas detector is once a month. If the four in one gas detector is not frequently used, such maintenance is not necessary. In this case, calibration can be performed after each use, and it is recommended that the interval between the calibration date and the use date should not exceed one month.
In addition to instrument calibration, it is recommended to perform functional testing after each use to ensure the correct response of the instrument to gases.

3. Regular calibration is also necessary for the instrument to detect data errors within the normal range.
Calibration method: Firstly, the four in one gas detector needs to be calibrated for zero gas and standard concentration gas. The obtained standard curve is stored in the instrument. When measuring, the instrument compares the signal generated by the measured gas concentration with the signal of the standard concentration, and then calculates the accurate gas concentration.

4. The four in one gas detector has not yet freed itself from the method of relative measurement, so timely maintenance and correction are required. The accuracy of the detection results of the four in one gas detector calibrated and tested by the manufacturer's instrument can only be guaranteed.
