Care and maintenance of pH electrodes
1. If the pH electrode is not used at ordinary times, it can be soaked in 3mol/l kcl solution or saturated kcl solution. It is strictly forbidden to soak the electrode in distilled water, deionized water or tap water with very little ion content.
2. If the pH electrode is left dry for a long time and exposed to the air, before re-use, please soak the electrode in 3mol/l kcl solution or saturated kcl solution for 2~3 days to restore the activity of the electrode. If possible, Please soak the electrode in 9895 electrode regeneration solution for about 1 minute, then wash it with distilled water, soak it in 3mol/l kcl or saturated kcl solution for at least 1 day before using it.
3. If the electrode sensitive membrane or the pores of the white ceramic diaphragm become yellow due to protein pollution, you can buy 9891 electrode cleaning solution, soak the electrode in it for several hours, then wash it with distilled water, and finally soak it in 3mol/l kcl or saturated kcl solution for at least 1 day before use.
4. If the electrode’s white ceramic diaphragm hole is polluted by Aq2S and turns black, you can buy 9892 diaphragm cleaning solution, soak the electrode in it for several hours until the diaphragm hole turns white again, then wash it with distilled water, and finally soak it in 3mol/l kcl or saturated kcl solution for at least 1 day before use.
5. If the electrode is used for too long and the sensitive membrane is aging, you can buy 9895 electrode regeneration solution and soak the electrode in it for 1-10 minutes (the soaking time depends on the aging degree and slope of the sensitive membrane), and then wash it with distilled water Clean, and finally soak in 3mol/l kcl and saturated kcl solution for at least 1 day before use. It is strictly forbidden to treat the pH electrode with a slope above 56mv/ph with 9895, because the 9895 electrode regeneration solution contains HF solution, and the principle of 9895 is Use HF to corrode the aging layer of the sensitive film on the surface. If the new electrode is soaked in 9895 electrode regeneration solution or the old electrode is soaked in it for too long, HF will also corrode the good sensitive film part.
6. If the pH electrode is contaminated by inorganic substances, it can be cleaned with 0.1mol/l Hcl or NaOH solution for several minutes, and then washed with distilled water.
7. If the pH electrode is contaminated by organic substances, it can be cleaned with alcohol or acetone, and then washed with distilled water.
8. If you know what kind of substance can be used to dissolve the substance that pollutes the electrode, what kind of substance should you use to clean it.
9. Please remember that the pH electrode treated with 9891, 9892 or 9895 should not be calibrated or measured immediately, because the electrode cannot be measured at that time, and the electrode must be soaked in 3mol/l or saturated kcl solution for at least 1 day before use .
10. The joint between the upper end of the pH electrode and the cable is a high-impedance part. It is forbidden to soak in liquids such as water or corroded by moist air such as steam. It can be covered with the small red nut attached to the new electrode. The joint of the electrode cable also belongs to the High-impedance components are strictly prohibited from being soaked in liquids such as water or corroded by humid air such as steam, and must be stored in a dry place.
