Common faults of gas detectors after water ingress:
1. Corrosion of instrument casing
If the gas detection alarm casing is susceptible to corrosion due to long-term rainwater erosion, resulting in instrument wear and thinning, cracking, affecting its accuracy and sensitivity, and causing damage.
2. The instrument is short circuited due to water ingress
If the instrument is exposed to long-term rain or the glass cover of the instrument is not fastened in place after opening, rainwater will flow into the instrument. If the instrument is not powered off, it can also cause a short circuit on the instrument circuit board, affecting its normal operation.
3. Corrosion and damage to internal components of the instrument
Water ingress or long-term immersion of the instrument can cause mold on the internal circuit board of the instrument, scrapping of the internal chip of the sensor, damage to the pressure diaphragm, and corrosion damage to the signal board, making it unusable.
How to protect gas detectors and ensure detection accuracy?
1. Install the rain cover
Installing a rain cover on the instrument can protect it from rain on rainy days. Effectively avoiding water damage to the instrument, thereby extending its service life.
2. Reinforced instrument glass cover
Checking the glass cover is a routine maintenance work for gas detection alarms. During the rainy season, maintenance personnel should strengthen the frequency of inspections. If the glass cover is not tightened in place and there is no liquid infiltration inside, tighten it; If liquid has infiltrated into the glass cover, the instrument needs to be stopped and quickly dried. If the calibration data is abnormal after being powered on again, the instrument should be inspected and repaired.
3. Timely maintenance
Although the current protection level of instruments generally reaches IP66, water ingress and immersion of instruments often occur due to special weather conditions and human operation errors. Staff should conduct timely inspections and contact professionals or return to the factory for repair if any abnormalities are found.
