Common knowledge on using laser rangefinder

The purpose of laser rangefinder
It is an instrument that uses laser to accurately measure the distance of a target. The laser rangefinder emits a very fine laser beam towards the target during operation, and the photoelectric element receives the reflected laser beam from the target. The timer measures the time from the laser beam to the receiving point and calculates the distance from the observer to the target.

If the laser is continuously emitted, the measurement range can reach about 40 kilometers and operations can be carried out day and night. If the laser is pulsed, the safety accuracy is generally low, but when used for long-distance measurement, it can achieve good relative accuracy.

The world's first laser was first developed by scientist Mayman from Hughes Aircraft Company in 1960. The US military quickly conducted research on laser devices based on this foundation. In 1961, the first laser rangefinder passed the US military's demonstration test, and after that, the laser rangefinder quickly entered the practical consortium.

Laser rangefinders are lightweight, small in size, easy to operate, fast and accurate, with an error of only one-fifth to hundreds of times that of other optical rangefinders. Therefore, they are widely used in terrain measurement, battlefield measurement, tank, aircraft, ship and artillery ranging of targets, measuring the altitude of clouds, aircraft, missiles, and artificial satellites. It is an important technical equipment for improving the accuracy of high tanks, aircraft, ships, and artillery.

Due to the continuous decrease in the price of laser rangefinders, they are gradually being used in industry. A series of new micro rangefinders with advantages such as fast ranging, small size, and reliable performance have emerged both domestically and internationally, which can be widely used in industrial measurement and control, mining, ports, and other fields.
