Common Reasons for Unstable Readings of Infrared Thermometers

 

There are many types of infrared thermometers, such as linear infrared thermometers, slider infrared thermometers, magnetostrictive infrared thermometers, laser infrared thermometers, etc. The most commonly used among them is the linear infrared thermometer. When we use this thermometer, we often encounter data fluctuations, which are mainly caused by the following reasons.
Several reasons for the fluctuation of infrared thermometer data:
Firstly, if this situation occurs, it is necessary to check whether the insulation of the connecting wire is damaged and whether it is in regular contact with the machine casing, resulting in a short circuit to ground. Secondly, the installation of a linear infrared thermometer requires good alignment, but parallelism allows for an error of ± 0.5mm and angle allows for an error of ± 12 °. But if the parallelism error and angle error are both too large, it will cause the display numbers to jump. When such a situation arises, it is necessary to adjust the parallelism and angle.
Again, the three wires of the linear infrared thermometer cannot be connected incorrectly, and the power and output wires cannot be swapped. If the wires above are connected incorrectly, there will be a large linear error, which is difficult to control and the accuracy of control will become poor. The display is also prone to jumping and other phenomena. Also, both frequency modulation interference and electrostatic interference may cause the display numbers of the electronic ruler of the linear infrared thermometer to jump. So, the signal line of the electronic ruler and the strong current line of the equipment should be separated by cable trays. The electronic ruler must be forcibly grounded. The signal line needs to use shielded wire, and a section of the electrical box should be grounded to the shielded wire. If there is high-frequency interference, the voltage measurement using a multimeter usually shows normal, but the displayed number will jump continuously; When static interference occurs, the situation is the same as high-frequency interference. To prove whether it is static interference, simply use a power cord to short-circuit the cover screw of the electronic ruler to some metal on the machine. As long as it is short circuited, the static interference will be immediately eliminated. But if you want to eliminate high-frequency interference, it is difficult to use the above method. You can try pausing the high-frequency interference source to see if the display results will be better, in order to determine whether it is a problem with high-frequency interference.
