Compare high-precision infrared thermometer and thermal imager

Infrared temperature measurement technology plays an important role in the production process, product quality control and monitoring, online fault diagnosis and safety protection of equipment, and energy conservation. In the past 20 years, high-precision infrared thermometers have developed rapidly in technology, with continuously improved performance, enhanced functions, increasing varieties, and expanding applicability. Compared to contact based temperature measurement methods, infrared temperature measurement has advantages such as fast response time, non-contact, safe use, and long service life.

Comparison between high-precision infrared thermometer and infrared thermal imaging instrument:
Infrared thermal imager, also known as infrared thermal imager, is a non-contact temperature measurement device that detects infrared (thermal) energy through a detector, converts it into electronic signals for processing, and generates thermal images on a video display. Infrared thermometers use photodetectors to focus infrared energy on the photodetectors and convert it into corresponding electrical signals. The signal is then converted into the temperature value of the target being measured. This is the difference in temperature measurement principles between the two. The similarity lies in the conversion of detected signals into electrical signals through detectors.

In terms of usage, infrared thermal imagers are used to detect heat, while infrared thermometers are used to test temperature. This is the fundamental difference between the two. Infrared thermal imager is a detection device that uses non-contact detection of infrared energy (heat), converts it into electrical signals, generates thermal images and temperature values on a display, and can calculate the temperature values. The infrared thermometer consists of an optical system, a photodetector, a signal amplifier, signal processing, display output, and other components. The optical system concentrates the infrared radiation energy of the target within its field of view, and its infrared thermal imager focuses more on object imaging, such as the infrared thermal imager used for military human body imaging. Infrared thermometers focus more on the temperature of objects, searching for hotspots, temperature distribution, and so on. Adjust the temperature detection upper and lower limits of the instrument to find the object with the desired temperature. It is more commonly used in general industrial applications.
