Comparison of Stereomicroscope and General Biological Microscope

A stereo microscope is a type of optical microscope that uses visible light as a light source, and is a compound microscope capable of observing objects with both eyes and thus having stereoscopic vision. The basic structure is the optical system that ensures the image and the mechanical part that is used to install the optical system.

Comparison of Stereomicroscope and General Biological Microscope

Characteristics and Usage of StereomicroscopeThe image of an object under a stereomicroscope is not inverted. Usually, the light shines on the specimen from above the object diagonally, and thus the surface of the specimen is observed. Compared with ordinary biological microscopes, the depth of focus of the somatic microscope is schooled large, and larger samples, such as stems, leaves, flowers and other plant organs, can be placed, and the observer can also carry out anatomical operations under the somatic microscope. Its magnification is the product of objective lens, zoom objective lens and eyepiece. However, the objective lens is generally not used, and once the objective lens is used, the field of view of the observation is smaller, the depth of focus is also smaller, and the light in the field of view is dimmed.

Features of the stereomicroscope

1. Binocular tube in the left and right beams are not parallel, but with a certain angle - body angle (generally 12 degrees - 15 degrees), so the imaging has a three-dimensional sense of three-dimensional;

2. Like upright, easy to operate and anatomy, which is due to the prism below the eyepiece to invert the cause of the image;

3. Working distance is very long, large field of view diameter.

4. Focal depth is large, helping to observe the whole layer of the object being examined.

The use of stereomicroscope

1, according to the object colour, choose the black and white side of the bench, the object to be observed on a slide or petri dish and then placed on the bench.

2,Choose the appropriate magnification, change the eyepiece (10× or 20×) required. If you observe below 80×, you can remove the 2× large objective lens, and its effective working distance is 87mm, if you add the 2× large objective lens, the magnification can reach 160×, and the effective working distance is 26mm, to adjust the working distance, you can loosen the locking handwheel, and reach it by pulling out or pressing in the movable pillar.

3, operation, move the object to the centre of the worktable plate, turn the lift handwheel, so that the left eyepiece can see a clear image of the object, if the right eyepiece of the image is not clear, then you can turn the eyepiece focusing ring, so that it is the same as the left eyepiece of the image of the same clarity, so that you can see a clear image with a sense of three-dimensionality, the focusing work basically complete. In order to get the appropriate magnification, can be achieved by turning the magnification adjustment ring, change the magnification of the variable objective lens. The magnification of the zoom objective can be read on the reading circle. The distance between the eyepieces can be changed, if necessary, by adjusting the right-angle prism set to fit the pupil distance above the observer's eyes. The microscope can be rotated about its axis in any position by loosening the expense screw.
