Multimeter buying skills

Sensitivity is a very important parameter for a multimeter. Generally, a multimeter with high sensitivity has high accuracy.

Considerations when purchasing a multimeter:

For electronics enthusiasts who mainly focus on home appliance maintenance, it is more appropriate to buy a multimeter with a DC voltage sensitivity of 20kΩ/V (also often written as ⒛000Ω/V).

Electric blocking is the most frequently used gear for radio amateurs, and special attention should be paid to the setting of the range of this gear when purchasing. From: Home of Electrotechnical Technology

The selected multimeter should generally be equipped with five electrical barriers, R×1, R×10, R×100, R×1k, and R×10k. Among them, the R×10k block should be installed with a 15V laminated battery separately.

Practice has proved that the R×10k block has many uses, for example, 'measure the insulation of the device, estimate the voltage regulator value of the Zener tube, directly measure the capacitance of 0.601 ~ 1ptF, etc., all use this block.

DC voltage gear and DC current gear are also frequently used. When purchasing, you should pay attention to whether the settings of these two ranges are complete and reasonable, and should conform to your own usage habits. The DC voltage should be 2.5~500V, and the DC current should be 1mA~2.5A.

For the AC voltage block, first of all, it should be considered that the measurement of the mains voltage should be convenient and accurate, so it is best to have a 250V block. As for other gears, although the settings of various multimeters are different, they generally meet the needs.

In the maintenance process of electronic equipment, it is often necessary to use a multimeter to measure the potential of a certain point of the circuit or the voltage of two points to judge whether the circuit is working normally or not.

It is necessary for the tester to choose a multimeter reasonably to minimize the measurement error, so that the measurement result can correctly reflect the working state of the circuit and provide a correct basis for troubleshooting.
