Correct use of clamp meter

(1) Before measuring the clamp meter, check whether the pointer of the ammeter points to the zero position, otherwise, perform mechanical zero adjustment.

(2) Before the measurement, the opening and closing of the jaws should also be checked. It is required that the movable part of the jaws can be opened and closed freely, and the joint surfaces of the jaws on both sides should be in close contact. If there is oil and debris on the jaws, it should be cleaned with a solvent; if there are rust spots, it should be wiped off gently. When measuring, be sure to make the jaws tightly connected to reduce leakage flux and improve measurement accuracy.

(3) When measuring, the range selection knob should be placed in an appropriate position so that the pointer can exceed the middle scale during measurement to reduce measurement errors. If you do not know the magnitude of the current of the circuit under test in advance, you can first set the range selection knob to a high gear, and then adjust the range knob to a suitable position according to the deflection of the pointer.

(4) When the current of the circuit under test is too small, and the deflection angle of the pointer is not large even in the lowest range, in order to improve the measurement accuracy, the current-carrying wire under test can be wound on the iron core column of the jaw part for several turns and then tested. To measure, divide the pointer indication by the number of wires that pass through the jaws to get the actual measured current value.

(5) When measuring, the wire to be tested should be placed in the center of the jaws to reduce measurement errors.

(6) When the clamp meter is not in use, the range selection knob should be turned to the highest range, so as not to accidentally damage the meter when it is used next time.
