Correct use of infrared human body thermometer "eight points of attention"

In order to make the infrared radiation thermometer accurately and reliably reflect the temperature changes of the human body, experts from the China Institute of Metrology put forward eight suggestions for correct use:

1. Try to require the measured person to stay in the measurement environment for a long enough time so that the surface heat transfer conditions of the measured person are the same or similar. For example, at the airport, the measurement should be taken 10 minutes after the passenger arrives at the airport terminal. At this time, the ventilation and temperature conditions of the terminal building are basically stable, and the external heat exchange conditions of the passenger's forehead are basically similar.

2. The measurement place should be selected indoors as far as possible, and avoid direct sunlight on the infrared radiation thermometer and the forehead of the person being measured.

3. It is necessary to accurately estimate the distance of the measured person.

4. The forehead temperature of a person is generally 1 to 3 degrees Celsius lower than the armpit temperature. At this time, the armpit temperature criterion for fever should be converted to the forehead temperature.

5. The infrared ear thermometer measures the ear temperature, and the measurement can be completed within 1 second. Since the human eardrum and ear canal are less affected by external environmental conditions, the infrared ear thermometer can accurately measure body temperature. The human ear temperature is generally 0.4 degrees Celsius higher than the armpit temperature. At this time, the indicated value of the infrared ear thermometer should convert the criterion of fever under the armpit to the criterion of ear temperature.

6. In order to ensure the accuracy and stability of the infrared radiation thermometer, it should be regularly calibrated and compared with the standard calibration device.

7. There are two types of non-contact infrared radiation thermometers: industrial and medical. When measuring body temperature, medical infrared radiation thermometers should be used, because the range of industrial use is wide, the resolution is low, and the error is large. the

8. Various thermometers are sorted from high to low in terms of measurement accuracy: medical thermometers, infrared ear thermometers, and body surface infrared radiation thermometers. From the perspective of preventing SARS, infrared ear thermometers are more accurate than body surface infrared radiation thermometers.
