Detailed explanation on how to use the induction digital display electric test pen

 

This new type of electric test pen is suitable for directly detecting AC and DC voltages from 12v to 250v, and indirectly detecting the neutral line, phase line and breakpoint of alternating current. It can also measure the continuity of uncharged conductors. The readings are intuitive, full of features, and cheap. Unfortunately, there is no detailed and accurate explanation on the Internet, and even the manufacturer does not come with instructions or is unclear, so I wrote this article for the convenience of ordinary consumers.


Instructions:


Button description:
A key "DIRECT": is the direct measurement key (far away from the LCD screen), that is, when the metal front end of the electric pen (referred to as the bit) is in direct contact with the circuit, please press this button;


B key "INDUCTANCE": It is the sensing/breakpoint measurement key (closer to the LCD screen), that is, when sensing the line with a bit (note that it is sensing, not direct contact), please press this button.


No matter how the text on the pen is printed, generally speaking, the one farther away from the LCD screen is the direct measurement key, and the one closer to the LCD screen is the induction/breakpoint measurement key. If it is not laid out like this, it means that it is a copycat or inferior product. For your safety, it is not recommended to buy it.


Direct detection:
1. Touch the DIRECT button, and the metal front end of the test pen directly contacts the object to be detected:


1.1 The last number is the measured voltage value (this test pen is divided into five voltage levels: 12V, 36V, 55V, 110V, and 220V. Generally, voltages ≤36V are not life-threatening);


1.2 When the high-segment display value has not reached 70%, the low-segment value will be displayed;


1.3. When measuring non-ground DC current, you should touch the other pole (such as the positive pole or the negative pole) with your hand.


2. When the pen directly touches the live wire, the indicator light will light up immediately regardless of whether the hand touches any of the measurement keys:


2.1 When your hand does not touch any measurement button, the indicator light lights up and displays 12V. This value is inaccurate;


2.2 When your hand touches the induction/breakpoint measurement button, the indicator light lights up and displays 110V. This value is inaccurate;


2.3 When your hand touches the direct measurement button, the indicator light lights up and displays 220V. This value is accurate;


2.4 To sum up, if the indicator light lights up without touching any measurement button, it means that there is AC live wire 220V. Remember this!


3. When your hand touches the direct measurement key, or when the pen directly contacts the human body, live wire, neutral wire, ground wire, metal and other conductive objects, the indicator light may light up. At this time, the actual voltage shall be based on the reading. If there is no reading, the indicator light may light up. Indicates no voltage.


4. When your hand touches the induction/breakpoint measurement button, or when the electric pen directly contacts the object to be detected, there are two situations:


4.1 When the indicator light lights up and displays 110V, it means that there is AC live wire 220V. Remember this!


4.2 The indicator light does not light up, but the "high voltage symbol" appears, please refer to points 1 and 2 in "3. Indirect detection".


Indirect detection (also called induction detection):
1. Induction detection: Touch the induction/breakpoint measurement (INDUCTANCE) button lightly, and bring the metal front end of the test pen close to (note that it is close to, not in direct contact with) the object to be detected. If a "high voltage symbol" appears on the display, it means that there is a voltage inside the object to be detected. alternating current.


2. Breakpoint detection: When measuring a wire with a breakpoint, lightly touch the induction/breakpoint measurement (INDUCTANCE) button, and bring the metal front end of the test pen close to the wire (note that it is close to, not directly in contact with) the wire, or directly touch the insulation of the wire. layer, if the "high voltage symbol" disappears, this is the breakpoint.


3. This function can be used to easily distinguish between zero and phase lines (the distance between lines must be increased when measuring parallel lines). Detect microwave radiation and leakage, etc.


Precautions:
1. There is no need to press the button hard.

2. Do not touch the two measurement keys at the same time during testing, otherwise the sensitivity and test results will be affected.
