Difference between analog power supply and switching power supply
Analog power supply and switching power supply are two different power supply types in the power supply field. They are quite different in structure, working principle, advantages and disadvantages and application fields. The analog power supply mainly converts the input power supply into the required DC output voltage through a voltage regulator, while the switching power supply converts the input power supply into the required current and voltage output through the switching operation of switching devices through a high-frequency pulse transformer.
Analog power supply
The working principle of analog power supply is to transform the voltage through an input transformer, and then convert the AC signal in the input power supply into a smooth DC signal through a rectifier and filter circuit. Next, through a voltage regulator, the DC voltage in the circuit is adjusted to achieve the required working voltage. Analog power supply usually has a large capacitor, which can play the role of filtering and reduce the influence of circuit noise.
Advantages:
1. Simple structure and easy maintenance;
2. The output waveform is stable and the noise is low;
3. Small size and high power;
4. The load adjustment is more accurate and smooth.
Disadvantages:
1. Low efficiency and poor energy efficiency ratio;
2. High maintenance cost;
3. The volume is relatively large;
4. The heat consumed in the circuit is very high, and the heat dissipation function is needed.
Application field:
Analog power supply is suitable for all kinds of low-power electronic devices, such as optoelectronic devices, computers, communication devices, positioning detection devices, etc. However, for some electronic devices that require high power and high efficiency, analog power supply is not suitable.
Example:
Ordinary TV, washing machine, LCD TV, easy rib motor sequence
Switching power supply
The switching power supply adopts high-frequency switching devices. The input power supply is first processed into a high-frequency square wave, and then amplified and converted into an output value suitable for operation through a high-frequency transformer. Because of the high frequency switching operation, the output quality and power density of switching power supply are better than those of analog power supply.
Advantages:
1. High efficiency and high energy efficiency;
2. Small size and high power density;
3. High efficiency and small heat dissipation;
4. Be able to quickly respond to load changes.
Disadvantages:
1. The output waveform is unstable and noisy;
2. Complex structure and high maintenance requirements;
3. The cost is higher than that of analog power supply;
4. With the increase of load, it is easy to produce high-frequency noise.
Application field:
Switching power supply is suitable for all kinds of high-power electronic equipment, such as computers, communication equipment, frequency converters, LED lighting systems and so on. Especially for modern robots, CNC machine tools and other precision equipment, it can ensure its own safety and accuracy by using switching power supply.
Example:
Notebook computer, high-end server, digital camera, road traffic signal, etc.
