Essential Tips to Prolong the Life of Large Metallographic Microscopes

Through the introduction in this article on metallurgical microscope knowledge, we have gained a basic understanding of metallurgical microscopes. However, in daily use, we should also learn how to maintain large metallurgical microscopes so that they can serve us for a longer period of time. Below are compiled operating precautions and maintenance methods.

Do not touch the lenses with hands during use to avoid mold growth on the lenses.

Samples must be completely dried before observation to prevent water stains from contaminating the lenses.

Do not place heavy objects on the stage when not in use, to avoid damage to the lifting mechanism.

All lenses of the instrument are factory-calibrated and must not be disassembled without authorization. If dust accumulates on the lenses, first blow off the dust with a rubber air blower, then gently wipe with a soft brush.

Before turning on the instrument, set the light brightness knob to the minimum position. After use, turn off the power immediately to extend the service life of the tungsten-halogen lamp.

The microscope should be placed in a cool, dry, dust-free location, free of acid, alkali or vapor. Always cover it with a dust cover when not in use.

Keep the mechanical parts of the instrument clean and wipe them regularly. Lubricate all moving parts with non-corrosive lubricating oil.
