When laser is used for ranging, it is usually divided into different types based on the length of the ranging and the principle of ranging. There are usually three types of measurement principles: pulse method, phase method, and triangulation method. Different measurement methods have different applicable fields. The pulse method (including the time of flight method) uses a laser generator to emit a laser pulse, which is reflected back to the generator when it encounters an object. Measure the time interval between the laser emission time and the receiving time, and then divide it by the beam to calculate the distance from the starting point to the target; The phase method emits continuous pulse waves from the transmitting source, and calculates the distance by calculating the phase difference between the transmitting and receiving waves; The triangulation method emits a beam of laser from the emission source, which is reflected back to the receiving end when it encounters the target object. The emitting point, target object, and receiving point form a triangle. By measuring the angle of the triangle, the distance from the instrument to the target can be measured.
Applicable range of laser rangefinder:
The phase method is usually used for close range measurement, with measurement distances ranging from tens of centimeters to tens of meters, measurement accuracy typically reaching millimeters, and measurement time is relatively long.
The triangulation method is usually used for very close range measurements, with measurement distances typically in the tens of millimeters and measurement accuracy reaching the micrometer level, with a very short measurement time.
Pulse method is usually used for long-distance and long-distance measurement, with measurement distances ranging from a few hundred meters to a few kilometers, measurement accuracy typically ranging from centimeters to decimeters, and short measurement time.
