1. Function of clamp ammeter
When using an ammeter to measure current, it is necessary to disconnect the circuit after a power outage before connecting the ammeter for measurement. When measuring current without power outage, a clamp ammeter is usually used. For example, a clamp ammeter can be used to measure the operating current of an AC motor during operation, making it easy to understand the working conditions under load.
2. Composition of clamp ammeter
The commonly used AC clamp ammeter consists of a current transformer and an ammeter. There are mainly two types of clamp ammeters: transformer clamp ammeters and electromagnetic clamp ammeters.
Advantages of clamp current meter
The biggest advantage of a clamp ammeter is that it can measure current without interruption. Clamp on ammeters are mainly divided into two categories: pointer type and digital type. Clamp on ammeters can be divided into specialized AC clamp on ammeters and electromagnetic clamp on ammeters that can be used for both AC and DC, depending on the results and purposes.
Usually, when measuring current, it is necessary to disconnect the tested circuit in order to connect the ammeter or primary winding to the tested circuit. By using a clamp ammeter, the measured current can be measured without disconnecting the circuit being tested. Although the accuracy level of clamp ammeter is not high, usually 2.5 or 5.0, it has been widely used due to its convenient use. Clamp on ammeter is generally used to measure load current with a voltage not exceeding 500V. The commonly used clamp current meters are divided into two types according to their structural forms: transformer type and electromagnetic type. Among them, there are T301 clamp current meters that only measure AC current, T302 clamp current meters that measure both AC current and AC voltage, and MG series AC/DC dual-purpose clamp current meters.
