Gas detector IP protection class description
The protection rating of a gas detector, also known as the IP rating, is a standard used to indicate the protection of electronic equipment against solid particles and liquids, and can also be used to measure the protection capability of a gas detector.
The IP rating of a gas detector consists of two numbers, the first number indicates the protection against solid particles and the second number indicates the protection against liquids, the higher the number, the stronger the protection.
IP54: gas detector protection level is low, can prevent the entry of solid substances (such as dust particles), but can not completely prevent the entry of water, suitable for indoor use or a slight splash of water has certain protection requirements.
IP65: the gas detector can prevent the entry of solid substances, such as dust and smaller particles, but also can prevent the entry of low-pressure jet of water, suitable for indoor and outdoor use, can cope with general environmental conditions.
IP66: Providing a higher level of protection than IP65, the gas detector is fully protected against the ingress of solids as well as powerful jets of water, suitable for indoor and outdoor use, and able to cope with harsher environmental conditions.
IP67: The gas detector is fully protected against the ingress of solids, including dust and larger particles, as well as against immersion in water for short periods of time, and is suitable for indoor and outdoor use in harsher environmental conditions.
IP68: Providing the highest level of protection, the gas detector is fully protected against the ingress of solids, including dust and particles, and is also protected against deep immersion in water for a certain period of time, suitable for indoor and outdoor use, providing the highest level of protection in extreme environments.
The IP rating of a gas detector only indicates protection against solid particles and liquids, not gases.
