Guide to Buying Mainstream Air Detectors in the Market

1. Particle pollution
Particulate matter pollution is our common PM particle pollution. It is composed of suspended particles of different sizes such as PM0.1, PM0.3, PM1.0, PM2.5, and PM10. The specific sources of particles are complex, not only from automobile exhaust Particulate matter also comes from multiple sources such as factory emissions and crop straw burning. Therefore, it is collectively referred to as particulate pollution.

At present, almost all domestic brands of air purifiers or detectors use Plantower's laser particle sensor solution to measure parameters such as PM2.5 and PM10 in the air, and the measurement range is between 0-999μg/m³.

2. Organic compound pollution
The volatile organic substances section requires an understanding of the following concepts:

The first is VOC, the abbreviation of VOC refers to volatile organic substances. VOC is the English abbreviation of volatile organic compound (volatile organic compoundS). Usually we refer to VOC as volatile organic compounds, but the definition from the perspective of environmental protection refers to a class of active volatile organic compounds called VOC, which covers all volatile organic compounds that cause harm.

3. Formaldehyde pollution
According to a domestic study, the concentration of formaldehyde in new homes in Chinese cities is 0.18 mg/m³, which exceeds the national standard (0.10 mg/m³) announced by the Ministry of Health. Various materials used in daily home decoration, such as artificial boards, paint coatings, chemical fiber fabrics, etc., are the main sources of indoor formaldehyde. When the concentration of formaldehyde exceeds the safe value, it will irritate people's eyes and mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, causing tears, sore throat, sneezing and other symptoms, and can also induce asthma attacks. Therefore, for newly decorated rooms, how to monitor and control the concentration of formaldehyde is a matter of great concern to everyone.

At present, domestic formaldehyde detection mostly adopts the electrochemical sensor solution of British Dart Company, the resolution level can reach PPB level, and the detection error range is 0.01-0.001mg/m³.

4. Carbon dioxide concentration
Carbon dioxide, a component of the air and a greenhouse gas, is often overlooked as one of the pollutants. When the content of carbon dioxide in the air is normal, there is no harm to the human body, but when it exceeds a certain concentration, it will affect people's respiratory system. Anyone who has studied chemistry in middle school knows that carbon dioxide dissolves in water to produce carbonic acid. Therefore, as the carbon dioxide concentration rises, so does the carbonic acid concentration in the blood, and acidosis may develop.

The concentration of carbon dioxide in a normal environment is 400ppm, and it is usually around 500 to 700ppm when there is no one in the room. In winter, due to heating and heat preservation, doors and windows are often closed, and the concentration of carbon dioxide will also increase at this time. When the concentration of carbon dioxide reaches 1000ppm, people will feel dull and inattentive; when it reaches 1500-2000ppm, people's symptoms will be more obvious, and people will feel breathless and dizzy. Therefore, it is also necessary to monitor the concentration of carbon dioxide in the indoor air, especially for families with fresh air fans.

At present, the carbon dioxide sensor mostly adopts the infrared carbon dioxide sensor solution of Sweden's Senseair, with a detection accuracy of 30-50ppm and a measurement range of 400-9999ppm.
