How Laser Rangefinders Work
Laser range finders generally use two methods to measure distance: pulse method and phase method.
The process of pulse method ranging is as follows: the laser emitted by the range finder is reflected by the measured object and then received by the range finder, and the range finder records the time of the laser back and forth at the same time. Half of the product of the speed of light and the round-trip time is the distance between the rangefinder and the measured object. The accuracy of distance measurement by pulse method is generally around +/-1 meter. In addition, the measurement blind zone of this type of rangefinder is generally about 15 meters.
Precautions for using laser range finder
As the handheld laser rangefinder uses lasers for distance measurement, and the pulsed laser beam is a monochromatic light source with very concentrated energy, do not look directly at the launch port with your eyes when using it, and do not observe the smooth reflective surface with an aiming telescope. , so as not to hurt people's eyes. Be sure to measure according to the safe operation specification in the instrument manual. When measuring in the field, do not point the launch port of the instrument directly at the sun to avoid burning out the photosensitive element of the instrument.
