In 846, Carl Zeiss opened a small workshop for the manufacture of precision optical instruments at 7 Neugasse Street in Jena.


In 1866, the 1000th microscope was sold. Mr. ErnstAbbe joins Mr. Zeiss's company and has established Zeiss' microscopy technology on a scientific basis.


1884-1891: "Schott & Gemossen Glass Works" in Jena is established, Carl Zeiss died in 1888, the Carl Zeiss Foundation is established.


In 1900, with the help of Mr. August Köhler, Mr. Zeiss's small workshop began to expand globally and, likewise, laid a solid foundation for fluorescence microscopy.


In 1936, in cooperation with Mr. Frits Zernike, the first phase-contrast microscope for the analysis of live cells was introduced. Mr. Frits Zernike was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1953.


1949, Economic Miracle and the Electronic Age: Commercialization of Transmission Electron Microscopy in partnership with AEG Corporation.


In 1989, the degree of digitization became higher and higher, and the microscope became an image processing workstation. The rapidly developed software technology and digital camera expanded the application field of the microscope.


In 2000, the operation control technology assisted the imaging technology, and the microscope became an automated image display system.
