How do you test a circuit with a multimeter?

The method of using the multimeter is to first check whether there is any problem with the appearance, then turn on the switch, connect both ends of the measurement to the multimeter, and also adjust the various buttons to measure the resistance and voltage values, which can be AC or DC. The specific operations are as follows:

1. Understand the multimeter
A multimeter is a magnetoelectric instrument with a rectifier that can measure various electrical parameters such as AC and DC current, voltage and resistance. For each electrical quantity, there are generally several ranges. Also known as multimeter or simply multimeter.

1) Be familiar with the meaning of each symbol on the dial and the main functions of each knob and selector switch.

(2) Perform calibration and zero adjustment to prevent subsequent measurement errors.

(3) According to the components being measured, select the gear and range of the transfer switch to find the corresponding measurement range.

(4) Select the location of the test lead jack.

1. Method of measuring diodes
(1) Connect it correctly to the circuit so that the light-emitting diode emits light normally.

(2) Adjust the selector switch to the 100ma range in the ma range.

(3) Disconnect the lead between the potentiometer and the middle point of the negative electrode of the light-emitting diode to form a "break point"

(4) Connect the multimeter in series to the breakpoint. The red test lead is connected to the negative electrode of the light-emitting diode, and the black test lead is connected to the contact lead in the middle of the potentiometer.

(5) Readout current in milliamperes through the light-emitting diode.

(6) By rotating the handle of the potentiometer, observe the change of the multimeter pointer and the brightness change of the light-emitting diode. Through all the above operations, we can know the powerful role of resistors in circuits.

(7) After the measurement is completed, disconnect all power sources and put the multimeter away as required.
