How to use a multimeter to quickly determine the water pump motor's issue

Measurement method for single-phase water pump motor

Single-phase pump motors are generally used in rural households and small agricultural water conservancy stations. Since the winding of a single-phase motor is composed of a main winding and an auxiliary winding, the DC resistance of the winding is generally between several ohms and tens of ohms. Because the resistance values of the main winding and the auxiliary winding of the single-phase motor are different. For the main winding, the diameter of the wire used is relatively thicker, and its resistance value is relatively small, while the wire used for the secondary winding is thinner, of course, the resistance value will be larger. Therefore, we use a multimeter to measure the resistance value of the main winding and the auxiliary winding of the motor to determine whether the winding of the motor is faulty.

For example, I once repaired the motor in a double-tubular washing machine at home. When the washing machine was dehydrating, its dehydration motor rotated at a low speed. At that time, I mainly suspected two problems with this motor. One was the starting capacitor of the dehydration motor of the washing machine. may fail; another is that the stator windings of the motor may have a partial short circuit. The above two situations may cause the speed of the motor to slow down, and the performance of the motor is "no energy". I first checked the capacitor with a multimeter, and then checked the stator winding of the dehydration motor for partial short circuits. I set the resistance file to RX10 to measure the DC resistance of the motor's running winding and starting winding. According to experience, under normal circumstances, for a single-phase motor with 30 watts to 45 watts, its group winding is generally 60 ohms to 90 ohms Between, then the resistance of the secondary winding is generally between 100 ohms and 160 ohms. In general, the resistance of the auxiliary winding is about 60% larger than that of the main winding.
