How to check leakage with multimeter

The leakage check method is as follows:
Step 1: Disassemble the negative terminal of the battery.

Step 2: Insert the red test lead of the multimeter into the 20A current jack, and screw the meter to DC 20A.

Step 3: Use the multimeter as shown in the picture above. The red test lead is connected to the battery wire, and the black test lead is connected to the battery pile head. You can also connect the test leads in reverse.

Step 4: At this time, what the multimeter shows is our leakage power

Extended information:

1) Current detection method
Detection steps: Turn off the ignition switch, remove the negative terminal of the battery, adjust the multimeter to the ammeter (20A level), then take two wires, connect one end of the two wires to the multimeter's positive and negative test leads, and the other end to the negative terminal and the Connect the negative terminal and observe the ammeter value. Compare the measured current value with the maintenance data to see if it is within the normal range.

If the measured current value is too large, it indicates that the vehicle has a leakage fault. Troubleshooting method: Unplug the fuses one by one and check the value changes.

When a certain fuse is pulled out, the current value becomes smaller, which means that the leakage part is the circuit or electrical appliance passing through the fuse. After determining the scope of the fault. You can check the circuit diagram of the electronic control house or check the line direction. Find the damaged parts along the route and repair them.

If all the fuses are pulled out and the ammeter value is still very high, it means that the fault point is on the line before the fuse. You should focus on checking whether there is a ground short circuit on the line before the fuse.

2) Resistance detection method
Detection steps: Turn off the ignition switch and remove the negative terminal of the battery. Use a multimeter and connect the black test lead to the positive terminal of the battery. The red pen is grounded. Adjust it to the ohm level to measure the total resistance of the entire vehicle: if the resistance is very large, it means it is normal and there is no leakage.

If it shows a few ohms or more than ten ohms. It means it is abnormal and there is a short circuit.

Troubleshooting method: Unplug the fuses one by one and observe the changes. When the pointer no longer rotates when a certain fuse is pulled out, the fault point is the circuit or electrical appliance passing through the fuse.

Same as the current detection method. By consulting the electronic control house circuit diagram or checking the line direction, find the damaged parts along the line for repair.

3) Empirical detection method
Detection steps: Turn off the ignition switch, remove the negative terminal of the battery, and then touch the wiring to the negative pole of the battery to observe the spark intensity. The stronger the spark, the more serious the leakage phenomenon.

Troubleshooting method: If the sparks are weak, it means there is a small current, and you should focus on checking whether the small indoor lights, luggage compartment lights, etc. are always on due to virtual connections; if the sparks are strong, it means there is a large current, and you should focus on checking whether Are there any electrical appliances that are constantly working or the lines are damaged or grounded?
