How to effectively maintain an acidity/pH meter
Acidimeter is a commonly used instrument and equipment, mainly used to accurately measure the pH value of liquid media. It can also measure the ion electrode potential MV value when equipped with corresponding ion selective electrodes, and is widely used in industries, agriculture, scientific research, environmental protection, and other fields. This instrument is also an essential inspection equipment for QS and HACCP certification in food factories and drinking water plants. So, how can an acidity meter be effectively maintained?
Effective maintenance of an acidity meter should start from the following aspects:
During measurement, the lead wire of the electrode should remain stationary, otherwise it may cause measurement instability.
2. The power supply used by the instrument should have a good grounding.
3. The instrument adopts MOS integrated circuit, so it should be ensured that the circuit iron has good grounding during maintenance.
When calibrating the instrument with a buffer solution, it is important to ensure the reliability of the buffer solution and avoid mixing it incorrectly, as this may result in measurement errors.
5. The input end of the instrument must be kept dry and clean. When the instrument is not in use, insert the Q9 short-circuit plug into the socket to prevent dust and moisture from entering.
6. The electrode converter is specifically designed for use with other electrodes, and attention should be paid to moisture and dust prevention.
The quality assurance period for industrial online pH meter electrodes is based on the premise of not having been used, with a period of one year. Therefore, many people generally say that the service life of industrial online pH meter electrodes is one year. In fact, this is not correct because there is an issue of use and maintenance in addition to the quality of the industrial online pH meter electrodes themselves. The following are the factors that affect the electrode life of industrial online pH meters:
1. Media used: The same industrial online pH meter electrode will come into contact with different media. Some media are very clean, such as tap water, while others are strong acids, strong bases, or even high temperatures.
2. Usage time: Some are used occasionally, while others are used continuously for a long time.
3. Whether to clean and maintain it or not can make a big difference. Generally speaking, if a pH meter electrode fails in a short period of time, it may be due to the wrong choice of pH meter electrode model or improper maintenance by the user. In this case, the manufacturer is not responsible for compensation. Of course, if the industrial online pH meter electrode has been used but still has a good appearance without any signs of use, it may be due to the quality of the pH meter electrode, and the manufacturer is generally responsible for refunding the compensation. As for some industrial online pH meter electrodes that claim to be long-life electrodes, there are actually some issues.
