How to improve the resolution of metallographic microscopes

 

Resolution is an important technical parameter to improve the performance of a metallographic microscope. The greater the resolution, the clearer the observed microstructure image of the sample. The larger the numerical aperture of the objective lens, the shorter the wavelength of the illumination light, and the minimum resolution distance is The smaller it is, the higher the resolution.


If the resolution of the metallographic microscope is low and the contrast is poor, check the following conditions:
1. Whether the oil immersion objective lens used is immersed in oil. If not, just let the objective lens be immersed in oil.


2. Check whether there are bubbles in the immersion oil of the oil immersion objective lens. If there are bubbles, just remove them.


3. The opening of the aperture diaphragm cannot be too large or too small and must be adjusted as required.


4. Is the condenser position too low? Just adjust if it's too low.


The oil-immersion objective lens of a metallographic microscope must use specially formulated oil when immersed in oil. If the oil is not specified, the resolution of the microscope will be reduced or the contrast will be worse.


The resolution of metallographic microscopes can be improved through the following methods:
1. Reduce the wavelength of light and use short-wavelength light sources.


2. Increase the refractive index of the medium between the objects being inspected and increase the numerical aperture of the objective lens.


3. Increase the aperture angle.


4. Increase the contrast between light and dark.
