Calibration or calibration in metallographic microscope analysis software

The ruler, whose scientific name is C1 micrometer, has a total length of 1mm and is divided into 100 small divisions, each of which is 0.01mm. How to do it as you said, it should be calibration or calibration. In terms of metallography, if you need to use metallographic quantitative analysis software or geometric measurement software, you must calibrate it. To put it bluntly, it means setting standards for the software to make the data obtained by analysis or measurement accurate. Metallurgical microscopes have different objective lenses. How many times the objective lens needs to be used for analysis or measurement depends on how many times the objective lens needs to be calibrated.
The equipment you must have here is a metallographic microscope, photography equipment (digital camera or CCD), metallographic quantitative analysis software or geometric measurement software, and C1 micrometer.

Here is an example: To grade or measure the diameter of ductile iron with an objective lens of 10 times and an optical magnification of 100 times (the eyepiece is also 10 times), you first need to use the C1 micrometer with a digital camera or a digital camera with an objective lens of 10 times. The CCD takes pictures and then saves them to the computer. Then the prepared ductile iron samples are also observed through the 10x objective lens, take pictures and save them to the computer for later use.
Open the analysis or measurement software, find the calibration or calibration function, import the micrometer image taken previously, and align the virtual grid in the software with the grid on the micrometer image. Count how many grids on the micrometer image are aligned, then input it into the analysis or measurement software, and select the output unit. If the output unit is not mm, you need to convert the unit here and then input it again. OK, it's done. The calibration steps are the same for objective lenses with other magnifications. Under normal circumstances, there is a manual after purchasing the software.

Then import the image of ductile iron taken into the software, and the rating and measurement of the rating can be completed if a report needs to be exported or printed at a fixed magnification.
