How to Maintain the Optical Biological Microscope

① Heat Prevention for Biological Microscopes A biological microscope consists of precision mechanical and optical components. Due to the different thermal expansion coefficients of various materials, the microscope must not be exposed to direct sunlight, nor placed near stoves or heaters. It should be stored at room temperature with an operating temperature range of generally 5°C ~ 40°C.

② Moisture Prevention for Biological Microscopes If a biological microscope is exposed to moisture for a long time, the lenses are prone to mold growth and surface corrosion. Therefore, it must be stored in a dry environment. At 31°C, the relative humidity should not exceed 80%. For every 3°C rise in temperature, the relative humidity shall be reduced by 10%.

③ Dust Prevention for Biological Microscopes Dust on a biological microscope will not only affect image quality. Dust particles often contain corrosive substances such as acids and alkalis, which can easily corrode lens surfaces. Hard dust grains may also scratch the lens surface during wiping and damage the objective lens. In addition, dust entering moving mechanical parts can cause inflexible movement and even equipment damage.

④ Corrosion Prevention for Biological Microscopes A biological microscope must not come into contact with acidic or alkaline substances. It should also be kept away from highly volatile chemicals and other hazardous chemicals to avoid corrosion.

⑤ Shock Prevention for Biological Microscopes The biological microscope is a precision instrument. Severe vibration will reduce its precision. Handle it gently, place it stably, and operate with light movements.
