How to measure resistance with multimeter and read the resistance value

When maintaining the electronic circuit board, the resistance components on the circuit board account for about 50% of the whole electronic components. If the circuit is faulty, the resistance components are one of the components to be tested.

So how to measure the resistance with a multimeter and read the resistance value? Let me tell you something about this problem. Before measuring the resistance, we'd better do two zeroing operations. One is the mechanical zeroing of the pointer multimeter. The second is ohm zero adjustment. After these two steps, we can choose the appropriate resistance multiplying factor file for resistance measurement. Because the scale of the multimeter resistance file is uneven, it is best to keep the pointer scale in the sparse part when selecting the multiplying factor file, and the closer the pointer is to the middle position of the scale, the more accurate it is. I suggest that the pointer should be at 1/3 to 2/3 of the scale.

Reading method
The reading method of multimeter is not complicated, that is, the reading rate of meter is good, that is, the resistance value of the measured resistance. For example, if the resistance of a resistor is 47 ohms, then adjust the range to the ohm range of "Rx10". At this time, the pointer of the multimeter points to the position of 4.7, and its final reading is 4.7x10, which is 47 ohms. If you choose a larger resistance range for measuring large resistance, such as Rx1k or RX1K, their reading methods are the same.

How to read the current file of multimeter?

1. Range
Whether it is a digital multimeter or a pointer multimeter, you must pay attention to the range when using it, and choose the right gear when measuring to protect the safety of the multimeter and the accuracy of the measured value. Generally, when measuring, you should choose a large amount to be gradually accurate.

For example, when it is known that the voltage value is about 220V for single-phase electricity, but it cannot be determined, it is necessary to adjust the measuring gear to 500V or even 1000V, so that the measuring range is large enough to ensure that the pointer does not overshoot and protect the safety of the multimeter.
