How to measure solar film thickness using a thickness gauge

 

Solar film is a film used to resist infrared and ultraviolet rays. The thickness is usually indicated in mil. The normal thickness of solar film is 1.5mil-3mil. If it is a low-quality solar film, the thickness may be less than 1mil, and it will have a brittle feeling when touched. To test the thickness of solar film, we recommend you to use Lantai CM-8820 coating tester. Thickness meter, the instrument does not need to be calibrated, only needs to be zeroed, and the measurement unit can be switched between metric units (μm) and imperial units (mil) at will. How to detect solar film thickness:
First prepare the zeroing plate (iron-based zeroing plate or non-iron-based zeroing plate), solar film and CM-8820 coating thickness gauge.
1. Imperial units are usually used to test solar films, so set the instrument to display in imperial units before testing.


2. After setting up, you can start testing immediately. If the customer has just used the CM-8820 coating thickness gauge, in order to reduce the error during measurement, it is recommended that you perform a zero adjustment operation first. After the zero adjustment is successful, the thickness test of the solar film can be carried out.


3. When testing, it should be noted that ordinary solar films have two layers, one is a transparent adhesive layer, and the other is the solar film. Therefore, during testing, the transparent interlayer of the solar film must be torn off. Remove it, and then put the solar film on the zero adjustment plate to measure, and you can accurately measure the thickness of the solar film.
