How to measure voltage with clamp Ammeter

A clamp meter is an instrument used to measure the current level of an operating electrical circuit, which can measure the current without interruption. The clamp meter is actually a current transformer, and the stuck wire is equivalent to the primary coil of the transformer. When there is current in the wire, magnetic flux will be generated in the iron core of the meter, and then the current will be induced in the secondary coil of the meter. This current is equal to the current in the primary coil multiplied by the number of turns of the primary coil (that is, a wire, so it is a turn) divided by the number of turns of the secondary coil, and then according to this relationship, You can convert the current in the wire.

The clamp Ammeter is actually an electromagnetic inductor. The magnetic field is generated by the electrified wire, and the magnetic field intensity generated by the current is different. The current value converted on the clamp Ammeter is different due to the difference of three-phase voltage, so the current hole on each phase is different, so only single-phase current can be measured, and then the average current can be calculated. Finally, whether it is a three-phase 380V voltage or a two-phase 220V voltage, the method used is the same.

The clamp ring of a clamp type multimeter is set for measuring current, but since the clamp type multimeter is called, it does not only measure AC current.

Many clamp meters have functions such as measuring resistance and AC/DC voltage. Simply put, the functions on an ordinary multimeter can be achieved with a clamp type multimeter. Many clamp meters have the function of measuring DC current, but currently most of them use a pen instead of a clamp ring.

Adjust to the current level and directly clamp the wire to be tested for current with a clamp.

Some clamp meters can measure voltage, while others cannot. Those that can measure voltage are equipped with probes. Insert the probes into the corresponding holes, adjust them to the voltage level, and put two probes on the voltage points to be measured, such as a live wire and a neutral wire.

Can Clamp Ammeter Measure DC

Clamp Ammeter is a special instrument for measuring AC current. Its front end is a current transformer. It achieves measurement tasks through the principle of electromagnetic induction.

Clamp Ammeter cannot test DC current, because DC current has no alternating magnetic field, so no secondary current will be generated in clamp transformer, so clamp Ammeter cannot measure DC current.

Clamp Ammeter is generally used to test AC current. It is made based on the principle of AC snail current, similar to transformers, and obtains signals through electromagnetic induction. I use Ammeter to measure DC on the circuit in series, but in theory, it is possible to make a DC clamp meter. The AC/DC clamp Ammeter measures DC current in the same way as the AC clamp Ammeter measures AC current. Select the appropriate range, clip a wire to test the current into the center of the clamp, and the corresponding current will be displayed on the display screen.
