How to Use a DC Power Supply, and Which Indicators Need Attention?

DC power supply is an instrument that generates pure and stable DC power. In addition to the number of channels, total power, output specifications and resolution of each channel, it is also necessary to understand and master the following performance indicators in order to make good use of DC power supply:

Load mediation rate
In the constant voltage output state, when the load (output current) changes, the output voltage e also changes, denoted as △ eout. The constant voltage load regulation rate reflects the proportional relationship between △ eout and E.

In the constant current output state, when the load (output voltage) changes, the output current I will change, denoted as △ IOUT. The constant current load regulation rate reflects the proportional relationship between △ IOUT and I. Usually * * *% x output voltage value/current value+bias representation.

Power regulation rate

In the constant voltage output (full load wear) state, when the input power e changes (± 10%), the output voltage e will change, denoted as △ eout. The constant voltage linear regulation rate reflects the proportional relationship between Δ eout and E.

In the constant current output state (full load wear), when the input power e changes (± 10%), the output current I will change, denoted as △ IOUT. The constant current linear regulation rate reflects the proportional relationship between △ IOUT and I. Usually it is * * *% x output voltage value/current value+offset.

stability

Under constant ambient temperature, the output voltage and current change within 8 hours. Usually * * *% x output voltage value/current value+bias representation

temperature coefficient

When the temperature changes by 1 ℃, the output voltage or current changes significantly. Usually * * *% x output voltage value/current

value+bias representation.

Ripple And Noise

Ripple is the AC component of DC voltage. Usually, DC voltage is obtained by rectifying and filtering AC voltage, and due to incomplete filtering, residual AC components may remain. Even if powered by batteries, ripples will still be generated due to load fluctuations. Usually represented by the VPP and RMS values of ripple and noise.

accuracy

Programming accuracy: an indicator of the error between the set value and the actual output value.

Read back accuracy: The error indicator between the actual output value and the displayed value on the screen read back.

transient response

When the load current changes instantaneously, the output voltage changes and the stabilization time. The time it takes for the output voltage to recover to 15MV when the output current changes from full load to half load or from half load to full load.
